Dale Hallerberg - Thunder Director

Dale Hallerberg

Dale marched multi-tenor and marimba with the Cavaliers from 1977 to 1980. He also played snare in the University of Illinois drumline for 5 seasons - which including winning the first indoor drumline competition ever held. Dale taught the Cavaliers bassline for 5 seasons and was a DCI judge for 1 year, before taking a long break to raise two exceptional daughters with his wife Brenda. More recently he has played for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, and the Crystal Lake Strikers. During the workday, Dale is a safety consultant for medical device manufacturers.

Khadijah Kellogg - Assistant Director / Social Media Manager

Khadijah Kellogg

Khadijah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Public Relations from Carthage College. For many years Khadijah has volunteered with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps and was a member of the corps media team in 2012 and 2015. She has also served as an instructor for the Warren Township High School Marching Blue Devils. Khadijah currently resides in the Chicagoland area and works for the American Bar Association.

Bryan Jameson - Education Coordinator

Bryan Jameson

Bryan studied Music Education at VanderCook College of Music. As a performer, Bryan was a marimba player with Cavaliers Indoor Percussion. He is currently studying Sports Broadcasting and Audio Engineering at Columbia College.

Jeff Jennings- Program Coordinator

Jeff Jennings

Jeff Jennings has been a performer and instructor in the Chicagoland area since 2011. Jeff began his marching percussion experience studying snare drum under Bret Kuhn, William Spicer, Brian Spicer, and Huei Pan while in high school. He performed in ensembles throughout high school and college including Green Thunder Percussion, Iowa State University Drumline, and Cavaliers Indoor Percussion. Jeff has also been a performer with the Chicago Bears Drumline for 3 years and the Chicago Bulls Stampede Drumline for 4 years.
Jeff has been an instructor for Prospect High School since 2011, working with both their battery and front ensemble. He was the snare technician for Crystal Lake Thunder’s inaugural WGI season in 2017. Jeff has also instructed at various high schools and clinics in the Chicago area.
In his spare time, Jeff composes and performs original music on drum set. He is currently finishing his degree in Parks and Recreation Leadership from George Williams College of Aurora University.

Daniel Eastwood - Tenor Technician

Daniel Eastwood

Daniel Eastwood is a co-founder of Project Two and an active member the contemporary berimbau sextet, Projeto Arcomusical. Daniel has performed with a variety of ensembles including The Chicago Bears Drumline, The Chicago Bulls Drumline, KANSAS, The Elgin Symphony Orchestra, The Illinois Philharmonic, and the 2008 and 2009 World Champion Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Pioneer Indoor. Additionally, Eastwood has shared programs with ensembles such as Third Coast Percussion, Eighth Blackbird, YarnWire, Fleetwood Mac, xBishopx, and Magic!. As an active percussionist, he has presented music to audiences at such venues as The Juilliard School, Princeton, Kansas State, Boston Conservatory, National Sawdust, Millennium Park, and The Percussive Arts Society International Convention.

Daniel’s interest in percussion instruments and techniques from around the world have led him to study music from Cuba, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and The Dominican Republic. Locally, Eastwood has worked the world class ensemble Cavaliers Indoor Percussion and is currently a staff member of the Colt Cadets Drum Corps. Daniel has also worked with many high schools in Illinois including Batavia High School, William Fremd High School, Normal Community High School, Bolingbrook High School, and is currently The Percussion Instructor at Plainfield North High School and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School where he directs the percussion ensemble, marching percussion, and teaches private lessons.

Eastwood holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Northern Illinois University. During his time at Northern Illinois University he performed with The Latin Jazz Ensemble, The Philharmonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Steel Band, Berimbau Sextet, Chinese Music Ensemble, Afro-Cuban Drumming Group, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Combo.

Danny Jack - Bass Technician

Danny Jack

Danny Jack is a student at Northern Illinois University studying music education. He regularly performs with the Chicago Bears Drumline and the Chicago Bulls Stampede Drumline. Danny has marched with Green Thunder Percussion and he teaches percussion at multiple schools and organizations in the northern Illinois area.

Josh Vezina - Snare Technician

Josh Vezina

Josh has been playing the snare for 10 years. He was on the snare line at Victor J Andrew high school for three years, marching both in the marching band and on the indoor line. He then attended Northern Illinois University where he was on the snare line for five years, spending three as the drum captain. During his time at NIU, he spent one winter season with Evolution Indoor as a member of the the snareline. Josh is extremely excited to be a part of the 2017 Crystal Lake Thunder staff, and can't wait to help the program and its student grow as musicians and people!

Dr. Brenda Brak - Medical Advisor

Brenda Brak

Dr. Brak is a Board Certified Family Physician in private practice in Barrington, Illinois, where she is co-owner of a primary care medical practice. Dr. Brak graduated with a BS in biology from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana, and received her MD from the College of Medicine at University of Illinois Chicago. She completed her family medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. She is on the medical staff of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. She currently serves on Good Shepherd Hospital's Governing Council, and has chaired the hospital's Family Medicine Department. She has also served on the Medical Executive Committee and on the Barrington High School Fine Arts Booster Board. She is a member of the Lake County Medical Society and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Brak has been a member of the Cavaliers Medical Group since 2002. She has been lead physician for the Cavalier Medical group since 2013. She works closely with corps nurse Helen Turner and other volunteer medical professionals to provide medical care and advice for the marching members throughout their drum corps experience.
